I draw when my mind wanders (and it wanders plenty)--in the classroom, in restaurants, and so on. I also draw when I must get someone a birthday card and can't find one on the (grocery) shelf. And I draw to make the people around me smile.

Neuroticomics exists because my last blog had too many words and because its title is so much better than that of the last one.

Phantom Danny, 1950-2008

Danny Federici, organ, accordian and all-purpose keyboard player of the E Street Band, passed away last week after an extended bout with melanoma. I'm not one to write a grand eulogy. But "Sandy" was among the first songs I learned on guitar, and before then, "Racing in the Street" accompanied me on many night drives.

You may view his last appearance with Springsteen and the band here, or donate to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund here.

I was wondering if you'd heard about this. A shame, but you did a fine job on the portrait.

I know I've responded elsewhere.

What I did was mild. The people over at the Greasy Lake message board said, and are doing so much more, if not in the form of "art."

I posted the image there, it gathered around 300 hits, and then a lady told me she was going to show it to her teenage son, who wanted to get into art school.

That's wild.
